What else should I know about Jefferson Parish and its District Attorney’s office?

         
In 1987 Jefferson Parish built a metal and steel barricade in the middle of a street bordering Orleans Parish to keep the majority black residents of that parish out of Jefferson.  It had to be torn down with bulldozers by Orleans Parish officials.
 


 

         
In 1991 Jefferson Parish was ordered to establish its first ever majority black voting district.  The local white Civic Association instantly sued.
